Trainee diaries

New nuclear heroes are here

For the third time, Fortum, TVO, Uniper and Vattenfall are jointly arranging the Nordic Nuclear Trainee Program (NNTP). We are working for fossil freedom. To get there, we need more nuclear heroes who can challenge our ways of thinking and lead us towards new opportunities, this is where the trainees come into the picture. The Nordic trainee program focuses on developing and training young talents in today’s and tomorrow’s nuclear power industry, something that is more relevant than ever.

Nuclear Trainee Program is a great opportunity to kick start the career in nuclear, learn about the nuclear sector, Nordic operators and their collaboration. The aim of the program is to attract young people to the nuclear power industry and strengthen the nuclear power industry as a business for the future. 24 trainees participate in the program, six from each company. There were many who applied to the program, one of those who had the opportunity to participate is Mathilda Rydholm, who works at the Swedish Nuclear Fuel and Waste Management Company (SKB). When asked what she is looking forward to, Mathilda answers as follows:

I look forward to increasing my skills, forming new networks and seeing the different businesses that we will visit during these 15 months. After the first module, I am also looking forward to meeting my new colleagues in the trainee program again.

The first training module took place on 17-19 September in Solna and at Forsmark nuclear power plant. During the 15-month program, the trainees will take part in eight face-to-face modules with different themes, virtual seminars between the modules, two rotations, project thesis and a visit to WANO.

The collaboration between the four companies makes the program unique. By rotating between different companies and workplaces, the trainees build knowledge of the entire industry and get a large network of.

We say a warm welcome to the new trainees aka Nuclear Heroes!
